Clay & Glaze development / Wednesday evening / Jan - March
Introducing the combined glaze development and throwing workshop!
This is the course for you who already has some experience in wheel throwing and want to dive deeper into developing your own glazes from scratch.
In this workshop I will guide you in the process of developing your own base glazes. Here I will start with an introduction to the theory of glaze development before we start on the practical part of mixing and putting together 2 different base glazes that you will continue to work with throughout the workshop.
The goal is to end up with one or two glazes that you’ll use to glaze your own pieces at the end of the workshop.
After getting started on the theoretical and practical part of glaze development, the tests will go in the kiln as we shift our focus to throwing and trimming the pieces that you eventually will be glazing at the end of the workshop. This will be smaller pieces that can be glazed in a 1-L-bucket- such as a number of cups, bowls or mini vases- making a small, matching set.
The workshop runs over nine weeks and includes ten sessions in total. We’ll meet on Wednesday evenings, plus one additional Saturday session.
